APPEALS — CROWN COURT & CRIMINAL COURT OF APPEAL

(Privately funded)

We advise and represent clients in appeals against conviction or sentence in both the Crown Court and the Criminal Court of Appeal. Appeal work requires focused review of the original proceedings, clear advice on prospects and careful preparation of any application for leave to appeal.

Funding

If we represented you in the lower court

If we acted for you under legal aid, we will review the case, advise on the merits and confirm whether we can continue to act. If we represented you privately, we will review the case, advise on the merits and provide a fee estimate for any appeal work.

If another firm represented you previously

We do not usually take on legal aid appeals where another firm represented you previously. Appeals require detailed preparation, and the legal aid funding available does not reflect the work involved.

What We Provide (Private Funding)
  • Full review of case papers and transcripts
  • Clear written advice on the merits of an appeal
  • Preparation of applications for leave to appeal
  • Instruction of specialist appellate counsel where needed
  • Representation at the appeal hearing

Private funding ensures the case receives the time and attention necessary to present the strongest possible challenge to the conviction or sentence.

Second Opinions

We can provide an independent second opinion if you have already received advice elsewhere and want clarity on whether an appeal is realistically worth pursuing.
